Abigail Butler, NP, IFMCP-PC, MSN
I became a nurse in 2004 and earned my certifications as a Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010.
After working in conventional healthcare I realized that women’s health care frequently suffers from a “one-size-fits-all” illness-oriented mentality and I decided to expand my practice by completing training with the Institute of Functional Medicine.
I view health as a matter of mind-body-spirit balance, a belief based on the knowledge that the human body is not just a series of independent organ systems; health and wellness have their foundation in the healthful function and interaction of the physical body system with that of the soul and the spirit. Where conventional medicine focuses on “fixing” the part of the physical body that is “broken,” I believe in treatment for the whole being through a combination of conventional, integrative, functional, and complementary alternatives to optimize holistic wellness.
My approach to care honors and respects your unique and individual needs while also empowering you to take charge of your physical, mental, and spiritual wellness in a meaningful and lasting way. I strongly believe that women know their own bodies; my job is to make you feel heard, to support your concerns, and to be a partner in your journey to wellness.
