Navigating the world of food sensitivity testing is like solving a puzzle with pieces that affect how we feel every day. Let’s dive into food sensitivity, how it shows up in our bodies, and why getting tested is a game-changer for our health.

Food Sensitivity vs Food Allergies

Food sensitivity refers to the body’s adverse reaction to certain foods, albeit less severe than allergies. It occurs when the body has difficulty digesting or processing specific food components, leading to discomfort or symptoms. These reactions can manifest in various ways, such as bloating, fatigue, headaches, skin issues, or digestive problems.

Unlike food allergies, which typically trigger a rapid and severe immune response, food sensitivity reactions are milder and often delayed. This means that food sensitivity symptoms may not appear immediately after consuming the offending food but can take hours or even days to manifest. This delayed onset makes it challenging for individuals to pinpoint the exact cause of their discomfort, as the reaction may not be immediately linked to a particular food.

At Five Journeys, we offer comprehensive food allergy testing and food sensitivity testing to help you identify and manage your body’s unique reactions to different foods.

What are the Symptoms of Food Sensitivity?

Symptoms of food sensitivity may resemble mild allergic reactions:

  • Brain fog
  • Fatigue
  • Flushed skin
  • Itching
  • Joint or muscle pain
  • Headaches or migraines
  • Sneezing
  • Stuffy or runny nose

Why do you need a Food Allergy Testing?

Getting tested for food sensitivity is like shining a light on what’s bothering your body. It helps you figure out which foods to skip and which ones are your body’s best buddies. Plus, knowing your triggers through food intolerance screening can help you feel better and live your life to the fullest.

How We Do Food Sensitivity Testing

Blood Testing

At Five Journeys, we utilize blood testing by Alletess Medical Laboratory to check for food allergies and sensitivities. This approach involves analyzing blood samples to identify immune system responses to specific foods. Through comprehensive blood testing panels, we aim to pinpoint any food sensitivities that may be triggering adverse reactions or symptoms in individuals. By utilizing advanced blood testing techniques, we strive to provide accurate and personalized insights into food sensitivities, empowering individuals to make informed dietary choices tailored to their unique needs and health goals.

Other testing methods we don’t currently offer:

Skin Testing

Skin prick tests (SPTs) are commonly used by allergists to diagnose food allergies by measuring the presence of IgE antibodies for suspected foods. We don’t offer skin testing, which diagnoses food allergies by measuring IgE antibodies through a skin prick test. While skin tests are quick and usually accurate for negative results, positive results can sometimes be incorrect. However, for precise identification of food intolerance, we provide comprehensive food intolerance testing, offering a deeper understanding of your body’s unique sensitivities.
