Reverse your biological age to thrive!
Join Dr. Greg Eckel as he shares his years of knowledge and experience in Naturopathic Medicine to break down the impact of aging in overall health and to help you prevent cancer and chronic diseases.
Start feeling younger with this episode!
Dr. Eckel’s programs started with the goal of helping people already significantly into chronic illness and pathology, but his research eventually evolved into answering how he could help healthy people thrive as they age, prevent disease, and promote longevity.
His goal is not to just maintain joint, muscle, heart, and brain health, but to reverse aging. Genetics, lifestyle, and stress all contribute to biological aging, and stress in particular accelerates the aging process by speeding up metabolism. Finding ways to reduce how we experience and cope with stress is one very effective way to slow down biological aging.
Cancer-screening tests are constantly improving, meaning doctors are able to detect and treat cancer far earlier. In fact, a group of researchers in India is working on technology they claim can detect cancer six months before it occurs. It’s not FDA-approved in the US just yet, but it shows great promise for the future of cancer treatment.
Similarly, VO2 max testing can pick up micro-cardiovascular changes 10-15 years before they start causing complications.
In terms of prevention, smoking has long been known to increase both aging and cancer rates. Not smoking is a large step in cancer prevention, but monitoring your sugar levels can also help reduce the risk of diabetes and cancer.
Reversing the biological age of an individual by seven years can prevent roughly 50% of chronic illnesses from developing. Lifestyle choices such as healthy circulation, detox, and timed fasting have all shown promise for prolonging longevity. Using saunas 4-7 times a week can also reduce all-cause mortality by 50%. Mindset is also important to overall health, which makes meditation and community key components to prolonging longevity.
Dr. Eckel empowers listeners to trust their wisdom and stay in touch with their bodies. Listen to your body, pay attention to changes, and don’t be afraid to speak up if you feel pain.
Listen now to reverse aging and thrive!
In practice since 2001, Dr. Gregory Eckel co-founded Nature Cures Clinic in Portland, Oregon, where he shares what he calls “Sarieah’s gifts” with the world. As a loving husband and clinician, he took a deep dive into medical research looking for cures to his wife’s Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, a rare, chronic neurodegenerative condition with no known cure. While he didn’t find a solution for Sarieah, the information he discovered and now uses in his clinic is showing promise for thousands of people and their brain health.
