Wherever you are on your journey, it’s time to start making progress!
If you’ve been told there’s nothing wrong with you, but you’re still not feeling your best, this is the show for you! Doctors Wendie and Ed are here to help you crack open a new level of health and vitality. Wendie is an OBGYN, Ed is a Family Practitioner, with over 25 years of combined functional medicine experience. They believe everyone should be vibrant, healthy, and happy until at least 100-years-old.
They divide health into five unique areas: Structure, Chemistry, Emotional/Psychological, Social, and Spiritual. Structural is whether or not you have any pain and have an empowering posture. Chemistry focuses on your hormones, nutrition, minerals, and it’s where toxins come into play. This area looks at your diet, how you eat and absorb it, and if your body properly gets rid of what you don’t need. The next area is Emotional and is about your general mood, your self-talk, and emotional training. Social picks up where Emotional leaves off and focuses on your relationships and connections with others. Finally, Spiritual is your sense of purpose. This area includes your reasons for getting up each morning, exercising, eating well, and anything else that makes your life productive.
As an example, Dr. Wendie discusses a patient she once had that came into her office wearing so much clothing she showed almost no skin at all. It turned out the client had a severe case of eczema and was very embarrassed about the way her skin looked. Her purpose in life was nursing, but anxiety, lack of sleep, disrupted digestion, social isolation, and discomfort due to her skin all impeded her from executing her life’s passion. As a result, every one of her Five Journeys was out of whack.
As she and Dr. Wendie began to peel back the causes of her problems, they identified toxins as one of her major issues. She gradually improved in all five areas and even returned to work. In her most recent visit to Dr. Wendie’s office, she strolled in wearing shorts and a tank top with absolutely no eczema on any of her skin.
