Refreshing Summer Mocktails

Whether you’re tired of hangovers, the post drinking blues, or just want to feel better, limiting alcohol consumption from time to time is never a bad idea! For those avoiding alcohol,  the summertime can be a challenge–from BBQs to warm weather, there always seems to be a reason to indulge in an alcoholic beverage. Fortunately, you can still enjoy many alternatives to your favorite summer cocktails, sans the headache! Check out some low sugar, Five Journeys approved mocktails below! Cheers!

 

Blackberry and Rosemary Essenced Spritzer

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup blackberries
  • 2 oz. rosemary simple syrup
  • 4 oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Spindrift Blackberry sparkling water 
  • Ice
  • Garnish: Fresh rosemary sprigs

Simple Syrup:

  • ¼  cup monk fruit or stevia extract
  • ¼  cup water
  • 1 fresh sprig of rosemary

 

For the simple syrup: In a small saucepan, combine monk fruit or stevia, water, and fresh rosemary. Cook over medium heat until the monk fruit/stevia is dissolved, stirring regularly. Once dissolved, remove from the heat and let stand for about 30 minutes or until completely cool. (Remove rosemary spring before using).

Preparation:

  1. Add the blackberries, rosemary simple syrup, and lemon juice to a cocktail mixing glass and muddle well. 
  2. Evenly divide the mixture between two cocktail glasses.
  3. Top the glasses with sparkling mineral water. 
  4. Stir to combine.
  5. Garnish with rosemary sprigs.
  6. Enjoy!

 

Spicy Sparkling Orange Margarita 

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

  • 6-8 slices jalapeno
  • 4oz.  orange juice
  • 4 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice 
  • 4 oz. sparkling mineral water
  • Ice

Preparation: 

  1. Add jalapeno slices and lime juice to a cocktail glass. Muddle to release some of the jalapeno and mint juices/fragrances.
  2. Divide the mixture between two glasses.
  3. Add ice and orange juice to both glasses.
  4. Top each with sparkling mineral water.
  5. Stir to combine.
  6. Enjoy!

 

Cherry Lime Crush Mocktail

Seves: 2

Ingredients:

  • 1.5  cups of cherries, pits removed and chopped
  • 1 oz. lime juice
  • Ginger Lime Poppi

Preparation:

  1. Add the cherries and lime juice  to a cocktail glass. Muddle well.
  2. Divide the mixture between two cocktail glasses.
  3. Top each glass evenly with Ginger Lime Poppi.
  4. Stir to combine.
  5. Enjoy!

 

Frozen Pina Colada Mocktail

Serves: 2 

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz organic, no sugar added pineapple juice
  • 3 oz. coconut milk
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple

Preparation:

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Divide evenly between two cocktail glasses.
  3. Enjoy!

 

Wild Blueberry and Green Tea Mocktail

Ingredients:

  • 2 green tea bags
  • 1.5 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup frozen, wild blueberries, thawed
  • ⅛ cup fresh, packed mint leaves, plus more for garnish
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice
  • Ice
  • Monk fruit or stevia, pinch

Preparation:

  1. Steep the tea bags in boiling water and add a pinch of monk fruit or stevia extract to sweeten. Add to a heat safe glass and chill in the fridge.
  2. Add the blueberries and mint leaves to a cocktail glass and muddle well.
  3. Divide the mixture into two cocktail glasses.
  4. Add ice and the cooled green tea and lime juice to two glasses.
  5. Stir to combine.
  6. Enjoy!

 

Strawberries and Cream Mocktail

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

  • 4 large,fresh strawberries, stems removed and sliced into quarters
  • 1 lime or lemon, juiced
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • Olipop Strawberry Vanilla or a strawberry seltzer 

Preparation:

  1. In a cocktail glass, muddle strawberries and lime juice 
  2. Divide the mixture between two cocktail glasses.
  3. Add ice and coconut milk to both glasses.
  4. Top each drink with Olipop Strawberry Vanilla seltzer.
  5. Stir to combine.
  6. Enjoy!
